The School

Since 1993 the Koresh School of Dance has offered open classes in dance instruction for adults. Our Center City Philadelphia studio at 2002 Rittenhouse Square boasts three sprung floor dance studios, large dressing rooms, and showers, with classes held seven days a week.

We offer more than 35 adult classes in a wide variety of levels and movement instruction, including Ballet, Stretch and Strengthen, Modern Jazz, and Hip Hop. Our instructors are widely regarded as some of the best in the city.

We also have a children's program with classes for youth ages 4-18, which was named Best of Philly 2007 by Philadelphia Magazine. During a typical week, approximately 800 dance students - ages 4 through seniors, beginners to professionals - pass through our studio doors.

The Koresh School of Dance provides community members with a chance to learn and express themselves through dance. Along with offering professional dance instruction, our facilities allow us to offer low-cost studio time to emerging choreographers and dance companies. We also provide rehearsal space for companies touring or passing through the region; most recently we hosted Pilobolus, Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, Sydney Dance Company, River North Dance Company, and Spectrum Dance Theatre.

The uniformity of the ten dancers trained in Koresh’s unique aesthetic—a hybrid of classical ballet, contemporary modern and Israeli folk dance—made this experience satisfying as the audience sprung to their feet in thunderous applause.

Greg Anmuth

Adult School— Contemporary & Commercial Jazz

Greg Anmuth began his dance training at his mother’s studio in New Jersey. Having waited until sixteen to begin taking technique classes, Greg fought to catch up to his peers. This began a process of self-exploration that continued through his time at Rowan University. Under the guidance of Paule Turner and Melanie Stewart, Greg sought clarity in his approach to choreography. Using every resource available, Greg pioneered original programs that helped define his movement style and launch his teaching career. While at Rowan, Greg was the first student to present an original evening length dance work and develop a unique internship using the Franklin Method to facilitate a group therapy model. He was elected the president of Rowan’s Contemporary Dance Company, and has been awarded the Bryna G. Goldhaft Medallion for Dance Excellence in 2012 upon his completion of his B.A. in Health and Exercise Science.

Greg has earned numerous choreography awards for his original concepts and style. His students are lovers of the creation process and deliver rich story-driven pieces on stage. In class, the development of personal growth remains paramount. Greg challenges individuals to try all things and learn from every experience. Classes are heavily influenced by his Yoga background, Nan Giordano’s NGCP, Luigi, Bob Fosse, Ronen Koresh, and Melissa Rector. Performance credits include works by Diane Sharp (SHARP Dance Co.), Joe Cotler, Jim Bunting, Asya Zlatina, and Michael Nickerson-Rossi (NRD), among others. Greg is currently a freelance performer in Philadelphia, the Artistic Director of his family’s studio “Dance Class” in Clementon, NJ, and a passionate teaching artist with the Koresh School of Dance.
