ABOUT KINESICS DANCE DYNAMICS LLC (KDD)

Located in the Historic Germantown section of Philadelphia, Kinesics Dance Dynamics is a minority owned studio that operates within THE KDD THEATRE. Our mission at KDD is to promote and foster growth, development, and education throughout dancers and aspiring performers. Within the space of dance education we provide structured leveled classes to movers ages 2 through adult. Keeping in mind the spirit of a shared humanity, we use our space to explore dance in a holistic capacity. Our intentions of providing understanding of the power in building community, help us navigate the arts and culture from a unique place of leadership. Classes are offered in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Modern styles. Our course curriculum is built and tailored to fit intentional movers at all levels of proficiency. We teach our defined understanding of kinesics while providing mentorship within the dance arts for those interested in pursuing a formal education in dance.

ABOUT SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH OF GERMANTOWN

Second Baptist Church of Germantown is located in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia, at the corner of Germantown Avenue and Upsal Street. Our physical address is 6459 Germantown Avenue; Philadelphia, PA 19119.

Congregation

Like the community surrounding our church, we are a diverse family, with a diversity of theological views. Our congregation is intentional about being “a church for all people.” While Second Baptist is predominantly female, a significant percent of church attendees are male, and a smaller percentage identify as other. The church is predominantly Black/African-American, but nearly 20% of attendees

identify as Caucasian. The largest single age group are those ages 40 to 49 but the age of the congregation ranges from babies to those 75 years of age and above.

ABOUT PARTNERS FOR SACRED PLACES

Partners for Sacred Places, founded in 1989, is the only national, non-sectarian, nonprofit organization focused on building the capacity of congregations of historic sacred places to better serve their communities as anchor institutions, nurturing transformation, and shaping vibrant, creative communities.

Across America, many places of worship suffer from declining attendance, constrained resources, and the burdens of aging, under-maintained, and over-scaled places of worship. Congregations of nearly every faith face challenges of unanticipated magnitude. Once an object of civic pride, these historic sacred places now pose a serious challenge to many denominations and congregations.

Thirty years ago, Partners for Sacred Placed, a non-sectarian, national, not-for-profit, was born to passionately and compassionately confront these emerging challenges, to address the many issues relating to Sacred Places at Risk, and to partner with religious and community groups at every level to find solutions to seemingly insurmountable problems.
