beg./int. Hip hop with Jordan Sweeney

monday 7:30-9:00pm

A modern take on hip hop with hard hitting and smooth choreography, including grooves and foundational hip hop steps. Recommended for dancers who love contemporary, and those who love to express themselves through movement.

Beginner: This class is designed for novice dancers or students who have not danced for many years. We will continue to emphasize proper posture, muscle development, flexibility, musicality, and grace of movement through beginner level combinations. Students are expected to know basic dance vocabulary and have a desire to improve their strength and technique.

Intermediate: Dancers with previous training will enjoy the transition into an intermediate level class. Students will progress at a quick yet comfortable pace while increasing strength and flexibility. Movement combinations are layered with multiple steps to refine and advance your dance technique on a pre-professional level.

Jordan Sweeney is a hip hop choreographer, born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She has trained in all dance styles since the age of 5. She started her hip hop journey at Morton's Dance Center, on their nationally and internationally ranked hip hop competition team. She competed as a dancer and team captain for four years, winning national titles as a group, and a solo dancer.

In college, Jordan started a hip hop dance crew at Saint Joseph's University called Hip Hop Hawks, where she choreographed routines weekly for talented hip hop students. She also performed as an opening act for T-Pain and Sean Kingston.

In her recent dance career, Jordan has worked for the past year and a half as LibertyMe Dance Center's lead hip hop choreographer, where she trained dancers ages 8-18 in modern hip hop choreography.
